Woman from Kazakhstan who climbed Everest gets prostheses

Mariya Auezova from Kazakhstan is the first woman with special needs in the world to conquer the base of the Mount Everest. It took her 14 days and 60 kilometers to climb. Now she is in one of the clinics in Moscow, where she is undergoing three weeks of rehabilitation. Biometric prostheses were made for her there. Her husband Mukhtar and coach Vadim Tskhe help Mariya to adapt. Now the main dream of the woman is to get on her feet.

“If I was told a month and a half ago that I will jump on my buttocks towards Everest, I probably would have never believed it. I would like everyone not to give up, to trust the people who are here for you and to strive to do something that brings pleasure in the first place to you. It is necessary to follow your dream,” Auezova said.

“The most important thing is to learn how to stand on prostheses, to return to active life, basic self-sufficiency. Then you will be able to go to the mountains, if you want. The most important thing now is to get used to the new way of life,” coach Vadim Tskhe noted.
