School for young border guards opens in Astana

Young border guards will be trained at a school in Astana. To this end, a specialized class called “Zhas Shekarashy” has been opened there. Students will learn the basics of military regulations, proper uniform wear, formation drills, and other subjects related to border service. The program will also include field trips and training exercises. Enrollment will begin in the 7th grade, and classes will be taught by border service veterans. The school already offers similar specialized programs for future police officers and military personnel.

«These children will grow up knowing what our border service is and will be raised with a sense of patriotism and a commitment to defending our homeland. After all, our homeland begins at the frontiers—at our borders. I was born and raised in a border district myself. I was a member of the “Young Friend of the Border Guard” club, and we also visited a border outpost that was under our patronage,» said Olga Dotsenko, member of the national public association of border guard veterans «Zastava Tarlandary.»

«The main focus will be on helping these young people become border guards. After 11th grade, we have the Border Guard Service Military Academy in Almaty, where we will train them to become officers,» said Yermek Abdrakhmanov, curator of the «Zhas Shekarashy» class.
