A military parade for the 80th anniversary of the Great
Victory was held in Astana. It became one of the main events of the year,
showcasing the strength and power of the Kazakh army. More than 20 parade crews
took part in the march, representing all branches of the armed forces, as well
as units from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Security
Committee, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Among them were
participants of the historical part of the parade, dressed in wartime military
uniforms. They were followed by a mechanized procession, which also featured a
historical column, after which modern weaponry of the Kazakh army, including
aviation equipment, was demonstrated.
«The military feats of our compatriots became a vivid testament
to the bravery and courage of the Kazakh people. Over 500 Kazakh citizens were
awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union title. During the war years, our home
front workers also demonstrated remarkable dedication and resilience. One and a
half thousand wagons filled with clothing and food were sent from Kazakhstan to
the front. Hundreds of enterprises were relocated to the country and
established there, quickly setting up the production of military goods. At
factories and plants, Kazakh workers manufactured weapons and ammunition, and
sewed uniforms. Nine out of ten bullets were made from Kazakh lead,» noted President
of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Kazakhstan is hosting thousands of large-scale events to
mark the 80th anniversary of Victory. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced
that around 500 streets across the country will be named after Kazakh soldiers.
A procession honoring these frontline soldiers will take place, with
descendants of those who fought in this bloody war carrying their portraits
through the streets.
«In an era of global instability, the key task for
Kazakhstan is the protection of its national interests. Our foreign policy is
focused on achieving this goal. Kazakhs are a peaceful, yet brave and resolute
people who firmly adhere to the principle ‘Zhanym – arymnyn sadagasy’ (Honor is
more precious than life),» Tokayev added.
Today, the President stated that the Kazakh army stands as a
guardian of the country’s territorial integrity and the peaceful lives of its citizens.
Moreover, the nation’s Armed Forces contribute to international peace and
stability through participation in UN peacekeeping missions. Over 5,000 guests
gathered at Independence Square to watch the parade, including veterans, home
front workers, diplomats, representatives of international organizations,
members of parliament, public figures, young people, and cadets from
military-patriotic club
