Kazakhstan’s mechanical engineering industry showed significant growth at the end of last year. The Head of the Union of Mechanical Engineers spoke about the state of the industry, tasks and prospects for the development given the external factors at a meeting with the Prime Minister. Thus, in 2021, the volume of railway engineering increased by 300 percent, agricultural engineering by 50.4 percent, mining and metallurgical - by almost 30 percent, and the automotive industry by 24 percent. According to Meiram Pishembayev, in 2021, the total volume of imports amounted to US$41 billion, of which 17 account for domestic mechanical engineering products. Therefore, today the issues of import substitution are relevant for the development of the market and export. PM Alikhan Smailov noted that the Kazakh Government will continue working on stimulating the sphere.
