The new composition of the Mazhilis of the Kazakh Parliament will focus on constructive dialogue with state bodies and population, and will adopt a number of priority bills in the first session. Chairperson of the Mazhilis Nurlan Nigmatulin announced this at a plenary session of the Lower House of the Kazakh Parliament. He drew the attention of the members of the Mazhilis to the main priorities in the work that had been outlined by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Among the most important bills are the Social Code and the draft Tax Code. The latter must be prepared taking into account its simplification, stimulation of business activity and competition. Nigmatulin underlined the need to develop tools for legislative support for business. They should be based on the principles for the new regulatory policy. He also referred to the draft laws ‘On industrial policy’ and ‘On public control’ as important documents. Speaker of the Mazhilis also said that MPs are to work on a separate bill to protect human rights.
“Every bill that we have to consider in this session is important both for the stable economic development of the country and for the improvement of the quality of life of our citizens. Therefore, in pursuance of the instructions of the President of the country, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, given at the opening of the current session, we must establish a legal framework to address pressing issues of healthcare, education, social protection, and support for small and medium-sized businesses,” said Nigmatulin.
