Kazakhstan is implementing five major initiatives with a
total investment of $19.5 billion, as discussed at a recent government meeting
focused on metallurgy and petrochemicals. In Pavlodar Region, a
hydrometallurgical plant is under construction, aiming to process up to 300,000
tonnes of gold-bearing concentrate annually and produce up to 15 tonnes of dore
gold alloy. In Atyrau Region, three petrochemical plants are planned to produce
butadiene, polyethylene terephthalate, and polyethylene. Additionally, a gas
separation complex will be built to produce ethane and propane. An expansion of
the Shymkent refinery is also planned, which will increase its oil refining
capacity from 6 million to 12 million tonnes per year. The Prime Minister
instructed to ensure oversight over the implementation of projects at the local
level.
