Kyrgyz citizens may be able to fly directly to Europe,
provided the European Commission removes the airlines of the Kyrgyz Republic
from its «blacklist». A final audit to determine this decision is scheduled for
May 2025. The Civil Aviation Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic reports that the
country has made active efforts to enhance aviation safety, implement
international standards, and modernize infrastructure. According to experts,
aviation is becoming an increasingly vital means of connectivity for the country,
given its mountainous terrain and landlocked position. Removal from the
blacklist would enable the opening of new air routes to destinations such as
Paris, Berlin, and London, which would have a positive impact on the national
economy and foster the development of tourism.
«The news that our airlines are being removed from the
blacklist is a significant victory for our country, especially for the tourism
sector. As entrepreneurs in the tourism industry, we have long recognized this
issue as one of the five major factors
affecting the development of tourism in our country. Airlines are the key link
in the tourism chain. This will significantly reduce the cost of tour packages
and, as a result, lead to an increase in the flow of tourists to our country,» Eldar
Shabdanov, a member of the National Council for Tourism Development, said.
It is worth noting that flights from the Kyrgyz Republic
currently operate to dozens of cities in Kazakhstan, including Astana, Almaty,
Aktobe, Atyrau, Taraz, Oral, and Oskemen.
