Kazakhstan is set to implement new projects in the oil and gas sector, and there is interest from China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, Sinopec, to participate in these initiatives. It bears noting that the company has previously been involved in the modernization of the Atyrau oil refinery. At a meeting with Sinopec President Yu Baocai, Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov highlighted that the country’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has set the task to accelerate the development of petrochemical facilities in his recent state-of-the-nation address. Among them is the Polyethylene anchor project, the largest in the industry. It will have a multiplier effect on the entire economy of the country, according to the Kazakh Government's plans. Given that Sinopec is one of the global leaders in the petrochemical industry, the company's participation in the project as an equal partner holds strategic importance, as highlighted by Smailov. Additionally, Yu Baocai proposed the idea of organizing professional internships for Kazakh specialists in the oil and gas industry.
