Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart
Tokayev instructed Kostanai region governor Kumar Aksakalov to oversee the gas
infrastructure progress together with the government. Aksakalov highlighted the
ongoing development of a technical and economic justification for laying a main
gas pipeline from the Aktobe region to Kostanai. The increase in natural gas
supplies will facilitate the implementation of new investment projects,
including the construction of a hot briquetted iron production plant and a
steel-smelting facility. The share of industry in the GRP structure exceeded 30
percent last year.
“I briefed the President on the
socio-economic development of the Kostanai region for 2023 and the projects scheduled
for 2024 under the instructions outlined in his state-of-the-nation address. One
of the tasks relates to the agricultural sector. Special attention should be
given to the timely gas infrastructure development in the region and
preparation for the spring field campaign,” said Kostanai region governor Kumar
Aksakalov.
