Three new renewable energy facilities were
commissioned in Kazakhstan this year, with the completion of five more expected
in the near future. According to the relevant ministry, the introduction of these
new energy sources will further strengthen the country’s energy potential. To
date, 148 renewable energy facilities are operating in the country, including wind,
solar, hydro, and biogas power plants. They play a key role in reducing the
carbon footprint and provide the country’s energy system with clean and
sustainable energy. The ministry has already developed a plan for the
industry’s development until 2035, which includes the addition of at least 26 gigawatts
of new capacity. According to experts, Kazakhstan continues to demonstrate
leadership in Central Asia in terms of renewable energy development. This year,
over 327 billion tenge in investments were attracted to the country’s energy
sector, and 19 agreements were signed. These projects, implemented in
cooperation with China and Saudi Arabia, involve the construction of solar and
wind power plants.
