A new preferential lending mechanism for
micro, small, and medium-sized businesses will appear in Kazakhstan. The Damu
Entrepreneurship Development Fund has announced the launch of the Orleu
program, which will provide 750 billion tenge in funding to entrepreneurs. Loans
of up to seven billion tenge at most will be available for investment purposes,
and up to 3.5 billion tenge for replenishing working capital. The initiative
was presented by Damu Fund Deputy Chairman Talgat Smagulov at a briefing in
Astana.
«The interest rate will not exceed 12.6% per
annum. Working capital loans will have a term of up to 36 months. Refinancing
will also be available under the program, but only for loans issued starting
January 1, 2025. Priority sectors include manufacturing, transport and
warehousing, tourism, education, and healthcare,» Smagulov said.
Last year, over 17,000 business projects in
Kazakhstan benefited from preferential financing measures. A total of one
trillion tenge was allocated in subsidies to support entrepreneurs with their
loans, and guarantees were provided for 8,000 projects. According to the Damu
Fund, small and medium-sized businesses represented nearly 40% of the country’s
economy in the fourth quarter of 2024.
