A unified register of domestic
producers will be launched in Kazakhstan by yearend. It will include
comprehensive information on Kazakh enterprises, their activities, products,
and production volumes, as announced at a government meeting by Kazakh Minister
of Industry and Construction Kanat Sharlapayev. Thus, entities included in the
register will have access to state incentives and procurement platforms,
including those designed for subsoil users and representatives of the
quasi-public sector. A key requirement for these enterprises will be the
production localization. Legislative amendments were also adopted to support
domestic businesses.
«Firstly, establishing
obligations to approve in-country value development programs and conclude
long-term agreements and offtake contracts for major customers. Secondly,
establishing a commission to control monitoring on the use of domestic
construction materials and equipment in the construction of facilities at the
expense of the state budget. And thirdly, the establishment of obligations to
purchase materials and equipment from domestic producers in the construction of
new production facilities,» Sharlapayev said.
Special support is also provided
to producers of pharmaceuticals and medical devices in the country. To date, 94
long-term contracts for the supply of about 4,000 pharmaceutical products have
been signed with 35 Kazakh companies. By the year-end, 24 more enterprises will
join them. Overall, in the first half of the year, the volume of pharmaceutical
production increased by 14.5 percent. Kazakhstan is set to produce over 60
percent of the essential medicines from the World Health Organization’s list in
the near future.
«Based on the list of common
diseases presented by the World Health Organization, a list of basic medicines
prioritized by the ministry was formed, and 283 medicines were selected. As of
today, 107 of these medications are produced in the country. In the future, the
production of the remaining 178 medicines will be prioritized,» said Kazakh
Health Minister Akmaral Alnazarova.
Kazakhstan is set to localize
nine production facilities with foreign companies by 2027. This initiative is
expected to attract over $20 million in investments to the country. To boost
domestic production, the country aims to launch 180 projects worth 1.3 trillion
tenge this year.
