Kazakhstan to increase export of agricultural products 2-fold

Kazakhstan is set to implement 582 projects worth over 4 trillion tenge (US$9.3 billion) in the field of agriculture in the next five years. Kazakh Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeyev spoke about the goals and objectives of the National plan for the development of agro-industrial complex until 2025. It is planned to increase labor productivity in the country 2.5 times over these years. 500,000 people in Kazakhstan will be provided with permanent jobs, which, in turn, will increase the income of nearly one million rural residents. Along with the export policy, which is a priority, the issues of import substitution are also being comprehensively resolved. Among the main stakes for these years is improving the quality of agricultural products and doubling the volume of domestic goods in foreign markets.

“To date, 194 investment projects are in the pool. These are new processing projects that will provide additional growth in production and, accordingly, additional exports. Thanks to this, we will be able to achieve the goal set to increase the export of agricultural products 2 times and bring the share of processed products in the total volume of exports of the agro-industrial complex to 70 percent,” Karashukeyev said.
