For the first time, Kazakhstan is
set to host the International Biology Olympiad (IBO), the world’s most
prestigious biology competition, consisting of two rounds - theoretical and
practical. The questions will cover cellular and molecular biology, anatomy,
genetics, and animal and human psychology. It is noteworthy that the IBO ranks
among the top seven subject competitions globally. As regular participants for
28 years, Kazakh school students have won over 70 medals of various
denominations. Recognizing their success, the 35th IBO will take place in
Astana, as decided by the international organizing committee. The Kazakh
government discussed the organizational matters of the competition. The event
is expected to feature more than 500 students and teachers from over 80
countries, as well as 80 volunteers.
