Kazakhstan to export five million tonnes of grain in 2023

Kazakhstan is set to export about five million tonnes of grain this season. As noted by Kazakh Vice Minister of Agriculture Azat Sultanov, there are no plans to impose any restrictions on its supply abroad. Overall, the volume of grain is sufficient to ensure the country’s food security. According to the ministry’s forecasts, the country is planning to harvest more than 15.5 million tonnes of grain this year. The harvesting campaign in the main grain-sowing regions is 90 percent complete.

“The marketing season has just begun, and there is enough grain. We have taken unprecedented measures to support farmers, thus, through the Food Contract Corporation, we have set a fairly comfortable purchase price for farmers under forward contracts. A petition has already been submitted to the country’s Ministry of Finance. A number of certain procedures for allocating budget funds for direct purchases by the Food Contract Corporation are currently underway. For two years we will purchase grain from farmers,” said Azat Sultanov, Kazakh Vice Minister of Agriculture.
