Kazakhstan has issued four postage stamps
dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the ratification of the UN Convention on
the Rights of the Child. The cancellation ceremony took place at the Kazakh
Foreign Ministry in Astana. The stamps’ designs symbolize family unity,
protection, and care for each child.
«The stamps, valued at 450 tenge each, have a
total circulation of 6,000 copies and will be available in all KazPost offices.
As many of you know, a stamp is a symbolic state document, issued to
commemorate various dates and events in our country,» said KazPost Managing
Director Talgat Gazizov.
This event reflects Kazakhstan’s enormous path
to ensure children’s protection and well-being. Measures include establishing
regional children’s representative offices, and introducing the Children’s
Rights Commissioner and the Child Well-Being Index. Additionally, a new
five-year cooperation program between the Kazakh government and UNICEF is
currently in development.
«There are, of course, new challenges that we
are addressing, such as climate change, protecting children in cyberspace, as
well as digital and inclusive education, mental health, among other various relevant
issues. We aim to safeguard and support children and teenagers so they grow
into healthy, educated citizens of the country,» noted UNICEF Representative in
Kazakhstan Rashed Mustafa Sarwar.
