Kazakhstan is set to change its approach to waste
management. To this end, the country will develop a corresponding concept to
centralize sector processes and establish a model of cyclical economy, as discussed
in the government. To systematize this process, a preferential financing
mechanism was approved last year. A pool of 94 projects has been formed, with
67 reviewed and six funded for a total of four billion tenge. Prime Minister
Olzhas Bektenov emphasized the need to intensify efforts to develop support
measures and incentives for industrial and energy enterprises to process
industrial waste. He also underscored the importance of modernizing equipment,
adopting new technologies, and implementing digital solutions in the sector.
«Effective waste management requires a clear system and its
digitalization. With the right approach, waste should be disposed of, recycled,
and reused. We already have such projects in place. Domestic mining companies
have begun processing waste and producing around 30 types of products,
including building materials, fertilizers, and more,» said Bektenov.
