Kazakhstan to develop new hydrocarbon fields

Kazakhstan plans to develop new promising hydrocarbon fields under a plan through 2035. By the end of this year, construction of a gas processing plant at the Kashagan field with a capacity of 1 billion cubic meters is expected to be completed. To strengthen the gas resource base at the Karachaganak field, a sixth gas reinjection compressor will be commissioned. According to the Ministry of Energy, this will help maintain oil production at 10-11 million tonnes per year. In addition, in line with presidential directives, the construction of a new oil refinery with a capacity of 10 million tonnes is planned, along with the expansion of refining capacities in Pavlodar, Shymkent, and Atyrau. Overall, the country aims to produce around 15.5 million tonnes of petroleum products in 2026.
