Kazakhstan and Sweden are strengthening cooperation in agricultural
science, technology, education, and trade. A Kazakh delegation, led by
representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Kazakh Agrotechnical
Research University, and the Kazakh Research Institute of Agriculture and Crop
Production, paid a working visit to Stockholm. During a meeting at the Royal
Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry, the parties explored opportunities
for collaboration. Plans include launching joint educational programs,
internships, and certified courses for young researchers. The visit also
resulted in agreements on partnerships between universities of the two
countries.
«As part of these agreements, our university graduates, including those pursuing bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, will have the opportunity to continue their studies in Sweden. They will be able to apply their acquired knowledge, gain additional academic experience offered in Sweden, and obtain a double degree. In addition, a series of meetings were held with Swedish businesses, which have shown strong interest in developing agriculture in Kazakhstan, particularly in agricultural engineering. Specific proposals for further localization of machinery production in Kazakhstan were discussed with the company Väderstad,» Kazakh Vice Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Taszhurekov noted.
The Kazakh delegation also visited the Swedish University of
Agricultural Sciences (SLU), as well as research sites and production
facilities. The parties discussed opportunities for exchanging advanced seed
processing technologies and introducing robotics in livestock farming.
