Kazakhstan will advance its tourism
industry with the backing of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), following the signing of a memorandum of cooperation
by the President’s Affairs Administration. The agreement will support three domestic
projects to develop the Burabai resort, the Almaty mountain cluster, and
Mangystau. Under the memorandum, Kazakh students will be able to study abroad, with
special courses available for ten of them. The
agreement aims to help attract investment and introduce innovations and digital
technologies in the industry. Thus, the parties plan to scale one of the mobile
applications for tourist convenience by helping users find routes, rental
accommodations, complete migration registration, and much more.
«We anticipate
attracting additional investors to tourism, and we have noted that UNWTO Secretary-General
Zurab Pololikashvili has shown interest in Kazakhstan’s level of
digitalization, where our success is highlighted in international ratings and
rankings. Consequently, our colleagues want to apply Kazakhstan’s digitalization
experience. And we may even assist other countries in adopting digital technologies for
tourism development,»
said Dauren
Moldakhmetov, head of the digitalization and project management department at
the Kazakh President’s Affairs Administration.
