As reported by the TurStat portal,
the Zhana Zhyl (New Year) tree in Astana has entered the top 10 tallest in the
CIS. The rating also includes the tree in Almaty, Kazakhstan’s metropolis. Overall,
the leading CIS capitals with the highest New Year trees are Ashgabat - 44
meters, Yerevan - 37 meters, Tashkent - 35 meters, Baku - 34 meters, Bishkek -
32 meters, Minsk and Dushanbe - 30 meters each, Astana and Moscow - 25 meters
each, and Almaty - 20 meters. Kazakhstan’s main New Year tree is located on the
territory of the EXPO International Exhibition Center.
