Kazakhstan’s National Bank unveils collector coins AI•KÚN and TÚIE

The National Bank of Kazakhstan has released new collector coins, including one called AI•KÚN from the ‘Magical Symbols’ series. The design is inspired by the nomadic concept of the unity of opposites, where the sun represents determination and activity, and the moon signifies pacification and creativity. Crafted from silver and melchior, the coin is available in denominations of 200, 500, and 5,000 tenge, mirroring the TÚIE coin, which has expanded the ‘Cult animals as totems of nomads’ series.

“This is already the sixth coin within this series, characterized by a unified design concept in the Saka animal style. The camel, in the beliefs of nomads, symbolizes dignity, independence, power, and endurance. Therefore, it was revered among the nomadic peoples. All these coins are available for purchase in the online store of the country’s National Bank,” said Almat Bassenov, Chief Designer of the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
