Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in an
informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Budapest. He
noted that the forum, held under the theme «Meeting point of East and West,»
reflects the interests and strategic goals of the Turkic world. The President
emphasized that, in the current complex geopolitical situation, cooperation
within the Organization has gained exceptional relevance. Tokayev pointed to
the significant potential for mutually beneficial cooperation, particularly in
the transport sector. He identified the transformation of the Middle Corridor
into a transport bridge between East and West as a strategic objective and
called on OTS member states to jointly implement infrastructure projects,
including along the North-South route. According to him, these efforts will
help strengthen the Turkic region's role as a key transit hub. The President
also highlighted digitalization and information technology as promising areas,
noting that work is already underway to lay a fiber-optic cable across the
Caspian Sea—an initiative expected to significantly enhance digital
connectivity in the region. Following the summit, the heads of state adopted
four documents, including the Budapest Declaration of the Organization.
