Kazakhstan
and Jordan intend to strengthen cooperation, with Kazakhstan ready to increase
supplies of 60 types of non-resource goods to the Jordanian market worth a
total of $250 million. Today,
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with King Abdullah II of Jordan in
Astana in both narrow and expanded formats. Tokayev stressed that Kazakhstan
attaches great importance to building mutually beneficial cooperation with
Jordan, a reliable and time-tested partner in the Arab world. The two countries
are connected not only by shared political and economic interests, but also by
centuries-old values and traditions.
«We highly value your
sincere dedication and commitment to fostering our bilateral cooperation. And I
also would like to commend Your Majesty’s wise and
visionary leadership as well as your distinguished role in promoting peace and
security both regionally and globally. Under your guidance, Jordan has become a
pillar of stability and moderation in the Middle East. I am confident that your
today’s visit will further invigorate Kazakh-Jordanian relations, reinforcing
our bonds and paving the way for elevating our partnership to new level,» Tokayev said.
During
Tokayev’s official visit to Jordan in February, the sides set a goal of raising
trade turnover to $500 million and signed a joint statement along with several
interdepartmental and commercial documents. At today’s meeting in Astana, the
parties discussed new growth areas, with Kazakhstan offering joint development of
intermodal transportation between Central Asia and the Middle East. They also noted enormous potential for
cooperation in agriculture, tourism, and digitalization, while Jordan proposed sharing
its expertise in medicine, pharmaceuticals, and the defense industry.
«Today’s meeting reaffirms our shared commitment to
strengthening cooperation and deepening bilateral ties across various fields.
Our previous discussions have resulted in a signing of several important
agreements and memorandums of understanding. And today’s signing, as you
pointed out, of new agreements will serve as a solid foundation for expanding
our partnership in trade, energy, healthcare, culture, and other key sectors,» noted Abdullah II bin
Al-Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The
countries will also
cooperate in the nuclear sector. To boost business ties and tourism, Amman and
Almaty may be connected by direct flights as early as next year.
For
his significant personal contribution to strengthening friendship and
cooperation between the two nations, King Abdullah II awarded President Tokayev
the Supreme Order of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Al-Nahda.
