Kazakhstan prepares for 80th anniversary of Victory

On May 7, the Kazakh capital of Astana is set to host a military parade marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in World War II and Defender of the Fatherland Day, with 4,500 participants. As is tradition, ceremonial units will march on the parade ground, while an aerial display and a showcase of military equipment from the country’s Armed Forces will also take place. A key feature of this year's parade is that  participants will wear wartime-era uniforms. For the first time, columns will also carry the battle flags of military units formed in Kazakhstan. The National Guard will be represented by 400 service members and 17 pieces of military equipment. They are currently in active preparation for the parade.

«It is a great honor for me to take part in this parade. I believe it is a significant event for every soldier and service member. We are training hard, giving our all to prepare for this important day and march in such a grand event,» said Honor Guard Company soldier Dilshat Islamov.

«I have been entrusted with carrying the flag of the Kazakh National Guard at the parade. I am confident that the event will be held at the highest level. The training is intense and well-organized. Participating in this military parade is a great honor for me. Preparation began a month ago, and we have three more months until the event,» said Honor Guard Company section commander Baglan Kudiyar.
