New toll roads will appear in Kazakhstan. In general, it is planned to gradually introduce a toll system for over 11,000 kilometers by 2025, Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development Kairbek Uskenbayev announced at the Mazhilis meeting. According to him, there are over 2,000 kilometers of toll roads in the country at present. A total of four billion tenge of toll revenue was collected since the beginning of the year. As for the tariff, cars pay one tenge per kilometer, and trucks pay 25 tenge. 90 percent of the national road network and 80 percent of local roads are in a standard condition, Uskenbayev said. On the instructions of the Head of State, by 2025, these figures are planned to be increased to100 percent and 95 percent, respectively.

“Сonstruction and restoration of 4,000 kilometers of roads are being carried out on the national network; about 3,000 kilometers of roads are covered with major and medium repairs. 4,600 kilometers of highways are covered with all types of repairs on the local network. 603 billion tenge was allocated from the national budget for the development of the road sector in 2022. According to the instructions of the Head of State, we need to complete all the projects started earlier. There are 17 such projects in the road sector, with a total coverage of 4,000 kilometers, scheduled to be implemented by 2024. By the end of the year, it is planned to open traffic on about 1,000 kilometers of roads. We will complete the work on the remaining 3,000 kilometers in 2023,” added Uskenbayev.
