Kazakhstan, Myanmar aim to expand cooperation

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with Acting President of Myanmar Min Aung Hlaing in Astana. The Head of State emphasized that he views this visit as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between the two countries. He noted that Myanmar is distinguished by its rich culture, unique traditions, and important geostrategic location. Kazakhstan serves as a key Eurasian transit hub, actively participating in major international transport initiatives such as the Belt and Road Initiative, the North–South route, and the Middle Corridor. The parties emphasized the promising potential of cooperation not only in the transport and logistics sector but also in agriculture, finance, IT, and digitalization. The Head of State briefed his counterpart on the main indicators of Kazakhstan’s socio-economic development, as well as its policy of tolerance. Min Aung Hlaing expressed gratitude to President Tokayev for the warm welcome and and reaffirmed his readiness to work together on strengthening constructive cooperation.
