Kazakhstan and Lithuania place great importance on the expansion of bilateral trade and economic partnership and investment cooperation, the countries’ Foreign Ministers Mukhtar Tileuberdi and Gabrielius Landsbergis stated during the talks in Astana. The parties noted that much attention is paid to the diversification of logistics routes using the existing potential of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and the Port of Klaipeda. The Ministers highlighted the positive indicators of mutual trade between the two countries, which reached US$500 million, having doubled over the first nine months of this year. Apart from that, Kazakhstan and Lithuania continue to actively implement joint investment projects in various fields.
“To date, there are about 170 Lithuanian companies in the Kazakh market. In turn, dozens of companies with Kazakh participation operate in Lithuania. Our countries are implementing joint investment projects in pilot training, electronics and medical equipment manufacturing, recycling of used motor oil, and other areas,” Tileuberdi said.
“Areas of information and communication technologies, digitalization, green and renewable energy technologies stand out as those where Lithuania has the strongest record and an international recognition. The Presidents of the Lithuanian business delegation with me shows that there is a huge interest of Lithuanian businessmen in expanding and deepening relations with Kazakhstan. Its resources and geographical location is a perfect match we have to work on,” Landsbergis said.
