The Kazakh government has launched a nationwide inspection
of recreational areas following instructions from the Head of State. Deputy
Prime Minister Yermek Kosherbayev visited the Kapсhagay Reservoir in the city
of Konayev, one of the country’s most popular holiday destinations, which
welcomed over 860,000 visitors in the first half of 2025. The region features
140 tourist facilities, including eight public beaches. During his visit, Kosherbayev
inspected the condition of these facilities, as well as the beach and road
infrastructure, sanitary conditions, and emergency services preparedness. He
instructed the regional administration to complete the construction of the road
to the northern beach by this autumn. Kosherbayev also reviewed the tourism
infrastructure along the shores of Lake Alakol, with particular attention given
to sanitation, landscaping, and public safety. Notably, large-scale
reconstruction efforts have begun at Alakol, with more than 650 million tenge
allocated from the Abai Region's budget for the project.
