Innovative methods in geological exploration are being introduced in Kazakhstan. Particular attention is being given to aerogeophysical surveys, which provide the most comprehensive information about the structure of the subsoil. A unified platform for subsoil users, Minerals.e-qazyna.kz, is also being developed. Through this platform, investors can not only submit applications and obtain licenses for exploration or extraction of subsoil resources online but also participate in auctions. The platform is based on the Finnish geoportal model. An interactive map has also been created, featuring over 66,000 geological reports. According to the Ministry of Industry and Construction, artificial intelligence technologies are actively used for data digitization and analysis. These measures are designed to attract investors to geological exploration. Last year, the total volume of investments in geological exploration from 10 international companies amounted to around 41 billion tenge, enabling the exploration of over 25,000 square meters. Over the past five years, private investments in the sector have totaled approximately $1 billion.
«According to the World Bank’s recommendations to increase the number of investors in the mining industry, the issue of introducing royalties is being worked out as part of the draft new Tax Code. The World Bank mentioned royalties in its report. Introducing royalties based on the sale price of mineral raw materials will be more transparent and familiar to players in the international mining industry,» said Kazakh Minister of Industry and Construction Kanat Sharlapaev.
