Kazakhstan, Georgia elevate ties to strategic partnership

The official visit of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to Kazakhstan is significant for strengthening bilateral cooperation, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated during talks with the distinguished guest. The Head of State emphasized that the Joint Statement on the Establishment of a Strategic Partnership, signed by the two countries, will help elevate bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level. The President also proposed developing a roadmap focused on energy, investment, transport connectivity, agriculture, digitalization, and tourism.

«Despite global turbulence, our bilateral trade has continued to develop and has potential for further growth. Kazakhstan, as far as you know, invested over half a billion dollars in the Georgian economy and remains among Georgia’s largest investors, and our countries maintain a successful cooperation in the energy sector. We intend to continue expanding oil transportation volumes through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline,» President Tokayev noted.

«The declaration of strategic partnership represents a significant achievement in our bilateral relations, and I’m confident that this important step will open new opportunities for broadening cooperation between our countries across a wide range of areas. I would like to thank you for signing together this declaration of strategic partnership. We highly value our close partnership with Kazakhstan, and we remain committed to maintaining an active political dialogue at all levels,» Irakli Kobakhidze said.

The parties reaffirmed their interest in further implementing mutually beneficial investment projects, with particular attention given to the development of the Middle Corridor. Kazakhstan expressed interest not only in strengthening cooperation with the Port of Batumi but also in expanding its presence in other Georgian ports. The two sides also confirmed their readiness to exchange expertise in digital government, online public services, and GovTech solutions. They also discussed prospects for expanding political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. A number of intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents were signed.

In recognition of his significant contribution to strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and Georgia, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev awarded Irakli Kobakhidze the Order of Dostyk, First Class.
