Kazakhstan expands economic cooperation with EU

Economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Union continues to develop, with ties with Belgium strengthening in particular. This was stated in an interview with our TV channel by Roman Vassilenko, the Kazakh Ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg and Head of Kazakhstan’s Mission to the EU and NATO. According to the diplomat, around 80 Belgian companies have invested more than €14.5 billion in Kazakhstan’s economy. Trade turnover between the two countries exceeded €600 million last year.

«Kazakhstan already produces 21 critical raw materials out of 34 critical raw materials that the European Union identifies as such. The European Union selected one project in Kazakhstan to be a strategically important project for the European Union. I’m talking about the Sarytogan graphite mine in the Karaganda region. None other than the President of the European Commission highlighted the fact that when this project is fully developed, it will be able to produce 100,000 batteries worth of graphite for electric vehicles a yearVassilenko said.
