Kazakhstan expands digital infrastructure

The implementation of the Data Center Valley project was discussed at a meeting chaired by Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov. The initiative is among the country’s key digital projects. For its realization, land plots have already been designated in the Pavlodar region, and a 215 MW substation has been secured. This, participants noted, lays the groundwork for a future digital hub. In addition, a preferential electricity tariff model was approved at the meeting, while investment and tax incentives were formalized. These measures are intended to increase the project’s appeal to major global technology players. Negotiations have already been held with more than 20 companies from the United States, China, and India operating in cloud computing, big data processing, and artificial intelligence. Following the talks, preliminary demand for capacity exceeding 100 MW has been generated. The overall potential of the Data Center Valley is estimated at up to 1 GW and is designed to accommodate major anchor clients.
