Kazakhstan’s engineering exports have exceeded $3 billion, more than doubling over the past five years. Domestic machinery is in high demand in Russia, Uzbekistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Turkmenistan, and Türkiye. Overall, production in the engineering sector has tripled over the last five years. Last year, the sector’s output reached 5.7 trillion tenge. Kazakhstan intends to continue expanding production and export markets, as well as attracting investment. Foreign capital in the sector has already reached 376 billion tenge. The industry is actively modernizing, with the digitalization of the engineering sector gaining momentum. Several enterprises are introducing robotics and implementing AI technologies in production.
«These processes are gaining particular importance in the context of the large-scale goals set by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. As the Head of State emphasized, Kazakhstan must become one of the region’s leading digital hubs. The designation of this year as the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence is expected to give a new impetus to mechanical engineering and drive a technological breakthrough,» noted Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
«Last year, China produced
over 700,000 industrial robots, presenting an opportunity for collaboration
with Kazakhstan, including the potential construction of a plant. Special
attention is given to training specialists. Kazakh students could pursue
studies at Chinese universities, and within five years, more than 100 specialists
could be prepared. A
facility for robot repair and spare parts production could also be established. In
this field, Kazakhstan has the potential to become a hub in Central Asia,» said Zhou Weidong, President of the Machinery
Council of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.
