The Kazakh government reports the
development of a digital flood forecasting and modeling system. It comprises
four modules: data collection, analysis, forecasting, and modeling. The program
will use data from the Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary National Company, the
Kazhydromet National Hydrometeorological Service, and the National Center for
Geodesy and Spatial Information. The system will be integrated with the
Emergencies Ministry’s database to monitor flood, landslide, and
avalanche-prone areas, as well as hydraulic structures. Plans also include
creating a digital elevation model for regions frequently affected by flooding.
