Three athletes will represent Kazakhstan
in tenge ilu (picking up coins on a horse) at the upcoming fifth World Nomad
Games. The qualifying competitions held at the Olympic training center featured
the country’s top athletes, who competed in kos kulash, bes beles, and zheti
kut styles. Notably, tenge ilu competitions will take place in the ethno-auyl
(village) from September 11 to 13.
«In zheti kut, I picked up seven
coins in the first round and another seven in the second, which allowed me to
take the lead. I used to play kokpar, but later chose tenge ilu. I am looking
forward to representing the country at the upcoming fifth World Nomad Games. We
hope to win,» shared Bakyt Toltai, member of Kazakhstan national tenge ilu
team.
«Of the three styles in tenge
ilu, I am preparing for zheti kut. The World Nomad Games are a very important
event in my life. We must represent the country and perform well since the
games are being held in Kazakhstan. And it is very exciting for us,» added
another member Beknur Serikov.
