Kazakh peacekeepers embark on UN mission to Lebanon

The tenth Kazakh peacekeeping contingent departed to Lebanon. Before the mission, the personnel underwent a thorough selection process, which assessed their professional and moral qualities, physical training, as well as foreign language skills. The peacekeepers will replace the previous team and will be serving in the United Nations (UN) mission for six months.

“We have received thorough training. I am confident that our unit will properly fulfill the assigned tasks during the peacekeeping mission in another country,” said peacekeeping contingent sergeant Yelaman Nussupkozhayev.

“Our peacekeeping training includes adherence to the UN mandate, integrating the specifics of activities carried out in the country our units are deployed to.  As part of the UN mission, the Kazakh contingent, along with the Indian battalion, will be responsible for base security, foot and air patrols and will assist in the delivery of humanitarian aid to the residents of Lebanon,” informed peacekeeping contingent commander Zhasulan Yesmambetov.

Kazakh servicemen engage in peacekeeping missions worldwide. Their rotation in Lebanon guarantees their ongoing and effective involvement in these crucial processes. This practice allows Kazakhstan to continue making contributions to the maintenance of global security.
