Kazakhstan and Italy: prospects for trade, economic, and investment cooperation

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Italian President Sergio Mattarella discussed the prospects for developing trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries during talks in Astana. Welcoming the Italian delegation, the Head of State emphasized that the meeting provides an excellent opportunity to discuss key areas of mutual interest in bilateral relations.

«We enjoy very close cooperation between both states in so many areas. There are so many Italian companies that operate on our market. Our trade is booming, humanitarian exchanges are successfully developing, so I believe that the current situation in our mutual relationship is very good, extremely successful,» Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted.

According to the Italian President, this meeting reflects the genuine friendship between the two countries. Sergio Mattarella expressed his gratitude to President Tokayev and highly praised the state of bilateral relations, highlighting the significant potential for further expanding the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Italy.

«We truly have excellent relations in all areas – political, economic, trade, and cultural,» Sergio Mattarella said.

Today, Italy is one of Kazakhstan’s three largest trading partners and ranks among the country’s top five investors. Last year, bilateral trade reached around $20 billion.  Nearly 250 Italian companies operating in Kazakhstan contribute significantly to the development of sectors such as oil and gas, renewable energy, mechanical engineering, and agriculture.
