Tourism should become a priority
area of the economy of the Zhetisu region, as stated by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during his working
trip to the city of Taldykorgan. The Head of State also noted the need to
actively introduce engineering and communication networks in tourist and
recreation areas, as well as to enhance the tourism potential of the region. It
bears noting that work in that direction is being carried out, including the
reconstruction of roads and the Usharal airport runway, along with the
implementation of projects to promote ecotourism. Thus, eight investment
projects worth 1.7 billion tenge are planned to be launched in the
Zhongar-Alatau and Altyn-Emel National Parks. Overall, the volume of tourist
services in the region increased to 16 billion tenge.
“In general, there are enough
tourist facilities in the Zhetisu region, and they all must be preserved and
developed at the proper level. Tourism should become a priority direction of
the regional economy. A large number of tourists will have a positive impact on
the region’s development. Zhetisu has a beautiful nature and huge tourism potential
at large,” said the Head of State.
During the trip, President
Tokayev also visited a cement plant, one of the largest enterprises in Zhetisu.
The joint Kazakh-Singaporean venture produces 1.5 million tonnes of material
per year using the dry method. The products are exported to Kyrgyzstan and
Uzbekistan. Governor of the Zhetisu region Beibit Issabayev informed the Head
of State about the economic development of the entire region. Thus, the volume
of production has surged by nearly six percent. There are over 500 operating enterprises,
with 14 more industrial facilities to be launched by the year-end. It is worth
noting that this year, the region has attracted almost 214 billion tenge.
President Tokayev’s working trip
to the Zhetisu region continued in the Karatal district. The Head of State
visited the museum of local history of Ushtobe town, which has been put into
operation this year and equipped with advanced technology. It displays archaeological
artifacts and ethnographic relics. The Kazakh President was also presented with
little-known information about the Karatal district as well as documents about
his father - writer Kemel Tokayev, People’s Artist Biken Rimova, and other
famous natives of the region. The consistent development of the region is
demonstrated by other objects as well. The Head of State visited a medical
clinic, a school and a humanitarian vocational education institution, which
have been built in Usharal this year. Infrastructure is also developing in the
neighboring village of Calpe, where a 200-seat cultural center and a sports
complex have been built. In addition, the Jetysu Arena indoor ice complex has
been established in Taldykorgan. Now residents will be able to do short track,
figure skating and play hockey.
