An international dog show titled «The Land of Nomads» took
place in Almaty metropolis. The focus of the event was on the Kazakh Tazy dog
breed, along with other breeds. In total, over 500 dogs from Kazakhstan,
Uzbekistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and Russia took part in the show. Each dog was
evaluated in its category according to the breed standard. They were brought
into the ring, where their leash walking, training, and various external
characteristics, such as temperament, coat color, head structure, neck, nose,
and others were demonstrated. The judging panel, which closely monitored the
dogs, included experts from the Netherlands, Slovakia, Greece, and China.
Notably, most distinguished dogs will be placed under observation, and further
efforts will be made to ensure their preservation.
«According to the rules of the International Canine
Federation, this will happen only after the breed is recognized. However, this
is a preliminary recognition. Over the next 10 years, we should increase the number
of Kazakh greyhounds and promote them internationally. To achieve this, we need
to participate in world dog shows in Europe and Asia and secure top prizes,» said
Bauyrzhan Serikkali, President of the Kazakh Union of Cynologists.
«This is one of the very old breeds in the
history. And I am so happy that finally Kazakhstan decided to say we want to
register it in the FCI. The history of the Kazakh Tazy goes back a long way. Kazakh
Tazy is so special because of the history,» noted Gerard Jipping, Vice
President of FCI, or International Canine Federation.
