Kazakh military mountaineers are preparing for the international army games ‘Elbrus Ring’. It is a competition consisting of three stages with the ultimate goal of climbing Elbrus. Soldiers are now training at the Mountain Training Center. The program includes individual and team climbing, navigating and crossing over turbulent rivers. The soldiers have already marched to the Manshuk Mametova glacier, which is located in Ile Alatau at an altitude of more than 4,000 meters. Training is conducted by famous Kazakh mountaineers. Conqueror of Mount Everest Maksut Zhumayev is one of them. Every year Kazakh soldiers take part in the ‘Elbrus Ring’ competition and show good results.

“We, soldiers of the special operations forces, have been going through the selection process to participate in the ‘Elbrus Ring’ competition since April. These games have been held for five years already,” said head of mobile training team Semser Makhabyl.
