Kazakh citizens can now
independently change their first and last names, as well as make modifications
to records of birth, marriage, and marriage dissolution, adoption, and death
through the e-government portal. The primary requirement is to have valid
reasons and confirming information, as stated at the National Information
Technologies. Citizens will be able to determine the status of the document
readiness through their personal accounts on the Egov.kz portal and then
collect them from the Public Service Center.
“Citizens, when necessary, have the
option to make changes to official records on the eGov.kz portal. This includes
modifying birth records for children, changes in first names, last names, and
patronymics, recording marriages and divorces, as well as adoption details.
This process requires the presence of sufficient grounds, absence of disputes
among involved parties, and the attachment of supporting documents. This
service also allows applying for document reissuance with the updated
information. For example, altering surnames previously required in-person
visits to the Public Service Center, and now, it can be done online without
queues,” Olzhas Stambekov, Head of the Public Relations
Division at the National Information Technologies, said.
