Students from vocational
education institutions in Kazakhstan will compete for the championship in the WorldSkills
Lyon 2024 set to take place in France next year. Currently, 500 registered
participants of the international professional skills competition are
undergoing national selection, which will define Kazakhstan’s representatives
on the global stage. Meanwhile, they are showcasing their skills in 30
disciplines, including construction, primary education, culinary arts, and, of
course, robotics and modern IT solutions, which will be evaluated by over 500
experts. It is worth noting that Kazakhstan has been participating in the
international professional skills competition since 2015 when the country
secured the 54th position among 100 competing countries. This year, the national
team has won two medals and achieved the best result throughout the entire
history of participating in the contest.
“Such championships allow us to effectively transfer new technologies from around the world. We provide opportunities for improving the career prospects of our students, enabling them to work and continue their education abroad, as well as secure positions in top companies. Overall, there are nearly 217 disciplines in the country, and we strive to develop all of them. About 20-30 disciplines are replaced each year, and new disciplines such as industrial automation and web technology development for business have been added this year,” said Sholpan Utelbayeva, President of the ‘Talap’ Non-Commercial Joint Stock Company.
“My specialty is mobile robotics, which I chose as it is a profession of the future. Many industries are automated now, and everything is connected to computers. That’s why I choose the field of mobile robotics to reveal my potential and become a specialist in demand in the future. I believe that I will be able to test my knowledge at this championship and demonstrate good results,” said Kobilandi Makhanbetkali, student at the Central Asian Technical and Economic College.
