Maulen Ashimbayev, the chairman of the Senate, the upper house of the Kazakh Parliament, led a delegation on an official visit to China, where he met with the chairmen of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress. The talks touched upon the prospects for strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation and the tasks of implementing joint projects for the coming period in such areas as industry, energy, transport, green economy, agriculture, and others.
«At present, we have every reason to believe that relations between Kazakhstan and China, based on friendship and good neighborliness, have risen to an unprecedented level. As President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev notes, ‘we have built truly exemplary interstate relations, which are filled with new qualitative content from year to year.’ Strong friendly, close and trusting dialogue between the heads of state plays a vital role in strengthening the strategic partnership between our countries,» the Senate Speaker said.
Ashimbayev met with religious leaders of China to discuss the development of spiritual diplomacy and the strengthening of interreligious and interfaith dialogue within the Kazakhstan’s Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. The Senate Speaker also met with Zhejiang Province Governor Wang Hao and representatives of the Chinese expert community, reviewing issues of increasing trade and economic potential of the two countries, and enhancing cultural and humanitarian ties and interregional cooperation. Besides that, the Kazakh delegation visited innovative IT companies in Hangzhou.
