Kazakh scientists develop long-term storage unit for agricultural products

Kazakh scientists have developed a device that keeps agricultural products fresh for extended periods without losing quality. The mobile freeze-drying unit, Dayar 20, processes farm produce by evaporating water from frozen products under low pressure. After treatment, the products remain fresh for up to three years at room temperature without refrigeration, while preserving their color, aroma, shape, and vitamin content.

«This device can dry fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy products, and even ready-made meals and fish while maintaining high quality. The dried products can be stored in special packaging for 10 to 50 years. Additionally, the unit can be transported to fields, orchards, or remote farms to process products on sitenoted Almas Gaukhar, Head of the Center for Commercialization and Creative Industries at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

According to the developers, this device is especially important for farms in mountainous and remote areas of the country. It is not only a reliable tool for farmers but also a technological breakthrough, paving the way for the modernization of the nation’s agro-industrial complex and processing industry. Scientists are confident that this innovation will contribute to ensuring food security.
