Kazakh-Turkmen relations are steadily developing across all
areas in the spirit of friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic
partnership. There is a high dynamics of economic cooperation between the two
countries. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev discussed this today during a
meeting with Turkmen Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Foreign
Minister Rashid Meredov. The Head of State also congratulated Ashgabat on the
start of the International Year of Peace and Trust, initiated by Turkmenistan,
and highlighted the importance of the country’s peacekeeping initiatives. He
expressed Kazakhstan’s readiness to continue providing full support for their
successful implementation. In turn, Meredov emphasized the strong and long-term
prospects of bilateral cooperation. The two sides discussed the implementation
of previously reached high-level agreements in the energy, transit and
transport, and cultural and humanitarian spheres.
