Kazakhstan prioritizes the development of comprehensive
cooperation with the European Union, which is an important foreign economic and
investment partner for the country. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated this
during a meeting with European Commissioner for International Partnerships
Jozef Síkela.
«We attach big importance to our relationship, a successful
relationship with the European Union. It is one of our priorities and we put
big importance on successfully delivering the enhanced partnership agreements
between both Kazakhstan and the EU,» Tokayev said.
The two sides also discussed the implementation of both
existing and new economic projects focused on the development of transport
corridors, logistics infrastructure, sustainable energy, and digital solutions.
Additionally, they exchanged views on topical regional and global issues.
Síkela emphasized that the EU attaches great importance to the Central Asian
region.
«This is one of my first missions, but the really first very
big mission as a Commissioner for International Partnerships. This is
definitely not a coincidence that I’ve decided to visit all five Central Asian
countries in the same time. This is a signal and a clear commitment of the EU's
vision to launch a much deeper and long-lasting partnership with Kazakhstan and
with the other Central Asian countries,» Síkela said.
