More than 50 new airplanes will be procured in Kazakhstan by 2025. 14 of them will be added to the aircraft fleet of domestic airlines by the end of the year. This was discussed at an international conference in Aktau. Experts from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan and Georgia discussed the creation of a coordinating group for the information exchange between aviation specialists of these countries. They also reached agreements on capacity building and cooperation in aviation security.
“We intend to set up a coordination group in Central Asia and the Caucasus, because we face similar challenges and problems. Overall, the coordination group will be formed in order for us not only to exchange information, but also to share the experience on ICAO audits, as well as the improvement of our legislation in terms of aviation security. We will exchange experience in terms of what measures we take to control access to airports and at security checks,” Darkhan Katyshev, spokesperson for the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan, said.
There are currently more than 900 aircraft in the country’s register. 75 vessels are involved in scheduled commercial passenger transportation.
