12 new industrial projects have been launched in the Almaty
region since the beginning of the year. Currently, 122 projects, totaling
around 2.5 trillion tenge, are in the implementation phase. As a result,
approximately 37,000 jobs will be created. This information was presented to
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev by the region’s governor, Marat Sultangaziyev.
He also briefed the President on the progress of the «Comfortable School»
project, the construction of new schools, and efforts to address three-shift
schooling. Additionally, 91 educational facilities in the region are set to
undergo capital repairs. The President instructed that special attention be
given to strengthening the potential of industrial zones and the Alatau Special
Economic Zone, as well as to the construction of utility and road networks in
local communities.
«Last year, we attracted 980 billion tenge in investments.
This year, we plan to attract 1.3 trillion tenge. Thanks to our region’s
sustained pace of capital attraction, we have moved up from 10th to 5th place
in terms of gross regional product (GRP) among other regions of the country.
One of our priority tasks is the development of the cities of Konayev and
Alatau, for which we have received specific instructions,» Sultangaziyev said.
