Over one million trees and other greenery are set to be
planted in Astana this year. More than 180 public spaces and courtyards across
the city will also be improved. Astana mayor Zhenis Kassymbek presented the
capital’s landscaping plans to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The works will
cover historic streets, the Presidential Park, the government quarter, the
Yessil River embankment, the Triathlon Park, and other areas. In addition, the
city will carry out certification and digital registration of trees, and QR
codes will be introduced. These will allow residents to access information
about each tree and report any issues to city authorities.
